  5. Artemis III

A crewed rehearsal for the Moon, flown in Earth orbit

    Open mission

Artemis III is NASA's planned 14-day crewed flight in low Earth orbit, set for summer 2027, in which an Orion crew of four will dock with test versions of the Blue Origin and SpaceX lunar landers. It replaced the original plan to land on the Moon, and NASA now aims to put astronauts on the surface with Artemis IV in 2028.

    Cassini

Thirteen years around Saturn and a planned end

    Open mission

Cassini reached Saturn in 2004, carried the Huygens probe to a landing on Titan, and studied the planet, its rings and its moons for 13 years. On 15 September 2017 NASA ended the mission by flying the spacecraft into Saturn after 22 dives between the planet and its rings.

    Hubble Space Telescope

The telescope that was fixed in orbit

    Open mission

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched on the shuttle Discovery on 24 April 1990 and found to have a flawed main mirror within weeks. Astronauts repaired it in orbit in 1993, and over four more servicing missions turned it into one of the most productive observatories in the history of astronomy.
