Blue Origin

Blue Origin is a private American space company based in Kent, Washington. Jeff Bezos founded it in 2000, and it worked quietly for years on his private funding. It flies the suborbital New Shepard, which first launched and landed uncrewed in 2015 and carried people, Bezos among them, in 2021, and the heavy-lift New Glenn. It builds engines for its own rockets and for United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan Centaur. For NASA’s Artemis programme it is developing the Blue Moon lunar lander, and with partners it is working on the Orbital Reef space station and the Blue Ring spacecraft platform.
