Stephen Bowen is a United States Navy submariner and NASA astronaut, and the second submariner to travel into space. He has flown four times: three Space Shuttle missions to the International Space Station, STS-126 in November 2008, STS-132 in May 2010 and STS-133 in February 2011, then Crew-6 in March 2023. Because he flew STS-132 and STS-133 back to back, he became the first and only astronaut to fly on consecutive shuttle missions. STS-133 was Discovery’s final planned flight, and he joined it late, replacing Tim Kopra after a cycling injury. He commanded Crew-6.
