Apollo
The Apollo program was the American human spaceflight programme, led by NASA, that landed the first people on the Moon. President John F. Kennedy set the goal in a speech to Congress on 25 May 1961. It was met on Apollo 11, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on 20 July 1969 while Michael Collins stayed in lunar orbit. Five more missions landed, the last Apollo 17 in December 1972, and Apollo 13 returned safely after an in-flight failure. A fire killed the Apollo 1 crew during a ground test. All crewed flights beyond low Earth orbit used the Saturn V.

Apollo 13
Apollo 13 was meant to be the third landing on the Moon, in the Fra Mauro highlands. After the rupture it became a rescue, worked out in real time by the crew and the flight controllers in Houston. The crew never landed, and every one of them came home.

Apollo 11
Apollo 11 was NASA's first attempt to land people on the Moon, and it worked. The Saturn V that launched it, the lunar module that landed and the command module that came home were the full stack of the Apollo programme, flown by a crew of three.
